In the first seven months of 2014, the total amount of rail freight in Latvia increased by 4.1%, reaching 35 tons, as compared to the same period of 2013, the Ministry of Transport informed the business portal Nozare.lv, cites LETA.

The amount of transit cargo carried by rail and via Latvian ports increased 7% in the first seven months of 2014, reaching 29.1 million tons.

The total amount of transit cargo increased by 4.6%, reaching 30.23 million tons, while the amount of domestic transit cargo transport decreased by 3.7% to 475,100 tons.
