A South American shipping lines has had to reach another costly agreement with the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) a week after paying a substantial fine for collusion on freight rates. The company was accused of violating the Shipping Act by colluding with other ocean freight carriers on the shipment of vehicles by RoRo or specialised car carrier vessels.
Under the compromise agreement, the shipping line agreed to pay a $625,000 civil penalty but did not admit to any violations of the Shipping Act.
