A Bill has been introduced to the USA Senate proposing funding for freight project. The Act, if passed, would provide for competitive grants for projects designed to increase the efficiency and capacity of the national freight mobility network in America. The funding would come from a 1 per cent shipping fee levied on domestic freight movements.

The Representative introducing the Bill said that the nation’s freight transportation system plays a significant role in growing the economy and competing. America’s freight is expected to double by 2040, soit is critical to start making investments in freight and transportation infrastructure now to keep America competitive internationally for years to come.
