The Government’s plans to toll an improved stretch of the A414 in Cambridgeshire have not met with universal approval for the freight industry.  The Freight Transport Association welcomed the commitment to improve the road, but said that tolling is always bad for the logistics industry, whose operators naturally assume that it will cause excessive costs. The ports, freight and logistics sector employs almost 24000 people in Suffolk and Norfolk and is worth £5.4 bn to the local economy. Industry representatives say that it is unfair that toll charges may jeopardise the future of the region.
