An experiment has begun to ship Scotch whisky from Elgin in Speyside to Grangemouth Rail Freight Terminal. Currently, all bulk Scotch whisky freight is moved by road from Speyside to warehouses and bottling halls across central Scotland.  This experiment is designed to reduce lorry movements in Scotland.  The rail freight trail will operate a twice weekly service from Elgin to Grangemouth, with the potential to carry other food and drink products.
