Customs Procedures for imports into Brazil were changed in May 2013, amending regulations which had been in place since 2006. It is no longer a requirement to present the original bill of lading or freight bill of lading, in order to obtain cargo from the port container yard or bond container freight station after Customs release. The consignee will be required to surrender the bills to either the shipping line or freight forwarder, depending on the individual circumstances.
