Freight rates for shipping routes between the Far East and USA are climbing, as consumer demand for goods from China increases in spite of the poor performance of the USA economy.

Ships which transport containers to the USA are operating at about 95 percent capacity, while those to Europe are about 80 percent.  Freight rates from Asia to Europe are therefore falling.
