The New South Wales Government is planning to raise private investment in infrastructure throughout the state; with this in mind, it is intending to privatise the bulk and container freight handling terminals at Port Kembla and Port Botany.  There have been objections from local councillors, who say that private companies will be benefiting from substantial previous investment by the state.  There are also concerns that private business will have control of vital shipping and freight infrastructure.
