It was announced earlier this week that the rail freight service, which has been running for a year, between Oslo in Norway and Narvik in the Arctic Circle has been a success.  Utilisation has been about 96%, and the service offers regular transport on the 1960 mile route, which runs mostly through Sweden.

About 25,000 containers were shipped on the route last year. Essential supplies like consumer and household goods are transported, as well as part-loads and group age  freight to industry and commerce in northern Norway, five days a week.
