This week sees the first trips by the largest ever barge/tug combination which can carry inland shipping.  The inland terminals of Oss and Venlo in the Netherlands will be using the combination to carry freight to Rotterdam port.  The barge will unload and load cargo in Oss and the motor ship will do so in Venlo. This should provide economically more efficient and more sustainable freight transport.

Initially, two trips per week will be made. The capacity of the combination can be increased to 360 TEU. This takes optimum advantage of the infrastructure on the Rotterdam-South-Eastern Netherlands axis.
