The Freight Transport Association will be inaugerating a national Logistics Day on 14 November 2012. This is an attempt to increase the profile of the logistics industry which is essential to our commercial well-being; and industry which is largely unrecognised by society.
The FTA wants to increase awareness of what the logistics and freight industry does for the UK, promote the industry as a meaningful career for young people, and exert pressure on the government to reduce fuel duty.
The industries poor image probably contributes to political apathy, which makes it difficult to push through policy changes which affect logistics. It is hoped that events like this will improve public and political awareness of a vital sector.
