The port of Antwerp in Belgium is out-doing rival ports by increasing freight volumes for both cars and ro-ro tonnage.  Volumes increased by more than 10% during the first half of 2011, with container volumes also showing a substantial increase.

Antwerp claimed that this was the strongest growth of any port in the Hamburg-Le Havre range and gave credit to investment in infrastructure and sustainable energy solutions.
