HMRC replacing CHIEF with CDS

HMRC are implementing a new Customs Clearance system called CDS to replace the current CHIEF system

All UK import customs entries can only be made on CDS from 1st October 2022
All UK Export customs entries can only be made on CDS from 1st April 2023

All Importers Exporters and Declarants need to register for CDS here:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/get-access-to-the-customs-declaration-service

Before you start your registration, you will need the following information:

A Government Gateway ID and password.

Your EORI number.
Your 10 digit Company Unique Tax Reference (UTR).
Address of your business as recorded on HMRC records.
The date of incorporation of your business.

After 1st October 2022:

The CDS dashboard will be used to manage payments to HMRC for Duty Deferment Accounts (DDA), replace the Flexible Accounting System (FAS)
and access Deferment/PVA statements and VAT certificates.
Importers will need to register and authorise R W Freight Services as a declarant to use their Deferment account via the CDS Platform, existing CHIEF standing authorities will not work.
Duty Deferment Account holders will need to set up a new Direct Debit Mandate to facilitate the use of their deferment account on CDS.

HMRC CDS information pages:
https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/customs-declaration-service

Once registration has been approved you can access your CDS Customs financial dashboard with your gateway password here:
https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/customs/payment-records

This is where you authorise R W Freight Services as a declarant to use your Deferment account if you have one.

You can rely on R W Freight experience and expertise to keep your cargo moving.
