Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Xi’an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation Co. Ltd. to develop a new cargo terminal in China’s Xi’an Port. This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in strengthening freight transport links between Azerbaijan and China.

The new terminal will serve as a crucial hub for cargo operations, facilitating more efficient goods movement along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. This development is expected to boost trade volumes and reduce transit times for freight forwarders operating between Europe and Asia.

The Xi’an terminal will provide improved handling capabilities and better connectivity for multimodal transport options, supporting the growing demand for reliable freight services along the New Silk Road.

This collaboration underscores Azerbaijan’s commitment to positioning itself as a key transit country in the region, whilst offering freight forwarding companies enhanced route options for their clients’ cargo needs.
