In response to the recent tariffs imposed by the US President, Norway has voiced its concerns, stating that the country sends a significant amount of exports to the European Union. Similarly, the President of the Swiss Federation expressed their apprehension regarding the tariffs in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. The leaders of these nations are closely monitoring the situation and its potential impact on their respective economies, particularly in relation to their trade with the EU. Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Cecilie Myrseth called the United States new tariffs “serious for the world economy,” as well as “critical for Norway” on the country’s state broadcaster NRK.
Myrseth said that the 20% tariff on the European Union (EU) and the “at least 10-15%” tariff on Norway was “of great importance,” stating that the tariffs on the EU will affect the country too because Norway “because we also send a lot of exports to the EU.”
