On Monday a rail freight wagon carrying nuclear waste was derailed in Drancy, 3 km northeast of Paris. There was no leakage of the waste. Every year about 4000 freight wagons carrying radioactive or chemical wast pass through the station. The Green party of France is calling for an end to the transport of radioactive waste through urban areas.
