A new deep water container terminal, sufficiently deep to accommodate the biggest ships in service today, has begun its final phase of development. The current 10 berths are operated by three different shipping lines, and the port has issued a Call for Interest to operate the last two berths of the terminal.  In the first nine months of the year, Le Havre handled almost 1.9 million tonnes of cargo, which is 6% more than the same period on 2012.
