The Chief Executive of a major Dutch shipping line told the German Ship conference in Hamburg that the short sea shipping sector is experiencing the worst crisis in a generation.  Consumer demand is still subdued, and fuel costs remain high.  Profit margins on smaller ships remain very thin.
