AN INCREASE in shipping delays to Oceania is having a severe effect on New Zealand, according to a new report from a logistics technology company.

The delays in shipments from China are attributed to global port congestion, but New Zealand is facing another layer of challenges as carriers prioritise more profitable routes.

“Compared to Australia, many exporters and importers are still waiting weeks longer for shipments,” a spokesman said.
