Last week a bridge collapsed on the main highway connecting Seattle in the USA with Western Canada.  Freight Cargo to a value of 20 million dollars travels to and from Canada and along the north-sout corridor each year. Temporary spans capable of handling cargo truck will be installed across the river within three weeks, but the remaining spans must be inspected for safety before work begins.

Alternative routes will make freight movement slower.
