Finland is the only EU country which has pledged funding to the shipping industry, to help them achieve a reduction in fuel emissions. Retrofitting the technology to ‘scrub’ CO2 is too costly for most shipping lines, and Brussels has advised that EU member states hold offer assistance to shipowners.
