Plans to dualise the A9 Perth-Inverness road may lead to loss of freight traffic from the parallel railway.  The Rail Freight Group has accused the transport agency of failing to look at alternatives to dualling.  The Rail Freight Group is asking for a more balanced road/rail investment package; moving freight on to the road would increase carbon emissions when Scotland is struggling to meet emissions targets.
