New data shows that containers on both transpacific and Asia Europe tradelanes are taking about twice as long to reach their export destination compared with pre Covid-19 transit times.
A San Francisco-based freight forwarding and customs brokerage publishes weekly data shows the time taken from the moment cargo is ready from the exporter until the importer takes delivery.

On transpacific eastbound, the average time in 2019 before the pandemic was 45 to 50 days. The new record high on January 2 was of days.

For Asia to Europe, the pre-pandemic average transport time was 55 to 60 days, whereas on January 2 it was 108 days.
