Supply chain problems seem to be shifting from seaports to airports. Retailers in the West are racing to import products from factories in east Asia to shoppers in the US and Europe before the Christmas break.

In October, retailers were competing for space on any freight cargo ship they could find. It mkay now be too late to ship goods from far-flung manufacturers. Importers will have to pay top dollar to get their cargo delivered by air freight. As a result, the delays that have affectred seafreight all year are now hitting airfreight.

Air freight was once an expensive but secure way to get goods delivered.
