Improvements at Dubai International airport within the next few months means that the airport’s annual freight capacity will increase to more than 3.1 million tonnes by 2018. There will also be a new tans shipment facility which will handle freight transferred between Dubai International and Dubai World Central. Total cargo traffic is expected to increase from the 2.19 million tonnes reported in 2011 to 4.1 million tonnes by 2020.
