New Zealand wine saw exports rose by 9% to NZ$599m (£315m) in the first quarter of the new export year, up to the end of September 2021, according to the latest data from New Zealand Winegrowers (NZW).

With higher prices per litre, the average value of export wines rose by 4% for the three months, compared with the same period of last year.

Exports of New Zealand wine fell by 3% in volume on a year-to-date basis to the end of September 2021, as the harvest was smaller than expected.
As with every industry dependent on sea-freight, potential for New Zealand wineries to ship their products to market has been greatly affected. Shipping reliability has diminished and freight charges have increased.
