The main causes of road freight operators being forced out of business are rising interest rates and falling volumes of freight traffic.  A recent research report “European Road Freight Transport 2012′ outlines factors influencing the performance of European Road freight companies.

Although diesel prices attract a lot of attention from the logistics and freight industries, the report suggests that the cost of borrowing money and falling volumes of traffic are a more important influence.
