The London Container Terminal (LCT) situated at Tilbury which iscurrently the third largest such freight facility in the UK, has announced the creation of 75 new permanent jobs this year as the Forth Port’s owned facility gears up investment.

The Port of Tilbury is a significant employer with a workforce of over 1,100, many of whom live in the local area and the company says it is investing millions of pounds across the port in the areas of infra-structure, equipment and people.

The 75 new jobs at London’s major container port will include straddle carrier drivers to handle the new equipment. They currently work as contractors at the port, but will now have permanent employment at LCT with all the benefits of this job security. The investment will also see a major training programme get underway to enhance the skills of both straddle carriers and crane drivers, both for the new positions and the terminal’s existing staff, through the port’s dedicated onsite training academy which will lead on the training programmes for LCT.
