A freight train broke down at the entrance to the Severn Tunnel on 5 August, blocking access and causing major delays in fright and passenger traffic. It was removed the following day, being taken away by the operating freight firm at 13:25 BST on Monday.

A total of 26 passenger services were affected by the delay.  The Severn Tunnel rail link joins south Wales and England, and about 200 trains pass through it every day.
