A privately funded business is being encouraged by state officials to develop an overhead trackway to carry freight across the state of Texas in the USA. The trackway would run above the interstate highway, and could ultimately run for over 2000 miles.

The system would haul cargo in intermodal containers and freight trailers. Terminals built at the end of each route would allow freight trucks to collect or deliver goods.

The shipments would be placed on unmanned transporters: they would glide on steel wheels across the guideway at about 60 mph. It could be 25% cheaper than a trucking operation.
