U.S. Customs and Exports are taking measures against several Chinese companies which export human hair. There are fears that the hair was cut from ethnic minorities inside China’s internment camps.

The $2.5 billion industry usually uses hair products from Asia, mainly from China. The majority of Chinese hair imports come from manufacturers in the country’s far western region of Xinjiang, where 2 million ethnic minority Uyghurs have been detained since 2016.
