Kenyan flower exports have returned to 85 per cent of pre Covid-29 levels, following the easing of lockdown in European export markets.

Kenyan farmers had to throw away millions of roses in March when airfreight services were significantly reduced.

Kenya exported an estimated US$5.1bn worth of products around the world in 2018.

Europe imports almost 70 per cent of Kenya’s exports but the Covid-19 pandemic halved daily orders. Britain is the second largest export destination for Kenyan cut flowers after the Netherlands, importing nearly 18 per cent.
