The volume of freight through China’s ports has been on the increase, with domestic movements out-stripping international freight. Overall freight movements in China have increased over the first 10 months of the year.

The Chinese government is investing heavily in transport infrastructure to support this increase, with rivers, roads and coastal developments all receiving increases in investment.

The amount of cargo carried on roads increased 15% to 23 billion tonnes, while freight shipped by water grew 15.3% to 3.5 billion tonnes.
