Salmon exports are becoming increasingly difficult because of border closures and travel bans.
“The only thing that is certain is that there is a lot of uncertainty,” Ingrid Kassen, general manager of medium-sized Norwegian salmon exporter Norwell, told IntraFish.
Currently transportation of fish from Norway to Europe is moving smoothly, but transport problems may arise for exporters.
Poland, France and the United States were the largest importers of salmon from Norway in February, and a medium-sized salmon exporter said air freight is becoming more difficult.
“It’s almost impossible westbound, and there is a huge reduction in the number of departures eastbound,” the exporter said.
