The driver of the freight train which collided with a passenger train in southern German city of Mannheim on Friday night last week is under investigation over suspected negligence, local media reported.
The collision which left more than 30 people injured was probably caused by “human mistake,” the online version of the Spiegel magazine reported, citing the Mannheim prosecutor.
The freight train driver is said to have continued driving in spite of three stop signals and one emergency brake, according to the prosecutor.
The reason why the freight train driver did not stop is not yet known to investigators. Currently, there is no statement from the train driver.
