Last year, Eurotunnel invested further in its rail freight capacity by aquiring the third largest railfreight operator in the UK. This now gives an opportunity to develop rail freight services betwen Britain and continental Europe which is a huge market with great potential. It is hoped that this will increase the growth of rail freight through the Channel Tunnel, as it allows the cost-effective passage of freight forwarders’ traffic through the tunnel to the European hinterland.
