A freight ship lost 60 tonnes of timber off the Norfolk coast near Lowestoft, and leisure sailors and fishermen have been advised to take care.  The timber was en route to the UK from Sweden, on a ship registered in Norway.  The incident was caused by near gale force winds and rough seas, with squally localised showers.  The Yarmouth Coastguard advised that – while individual planks may not cause a problem for larger vessels in the regular shipping lanes – smaller craft and leisure vessels could be damaged.
