A new freight train service from Ningbo port area to Wenzhou in eastern China has started – the operators plan to run the service even if there is not enough cargo to fill the train. There are also plans to up-grade to a high speed link the route between Jinhua and Wenzhou, which was built as a joint venture with a Hong Kong company. Cargo volume on this line was significantly above its designed capacity, and the up-grade will reduce journey time considerably.
