Almeria’s fruit and vegetable produce are increasingly selling in the international market.
For some time, more than 75% of the total volume produced in the province has been export shipped. During the past year, agri-food companies have increased the proportion of produce which is exported. .

According to an analysis of the 2017-2018 fruit and vegetable campaign exports accounted for 80.1% of the total fruit and vegetable production, including tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, eggplant, green beans, lettuce, melon and watermelons.

Compared with the previous season, exports increased by 4.1% by volume, with some 2.6 million tons sold in foreign markets.

These exports were valued at 2,400 million Euro, 5.3% less than in the previous period. The main import destinations were the countries of the European Union, although these are not strictly exports but intra European freight movements.
