Indications from the logistics and shipping sector suggest that the recession may have bottomed out for the time being, but commentators are spotting trends which show that the balance in world trade is likely to change significantly.  Although China is exporting far less than before, its economy is reported to be growing by 7%.  Trade with its near neighbours is increasing; China continues to import raw materials and commodities from the poorer nations, and manufactured goods from the more developed countries in the Asia Pacific region. This trend looks set to continue, with implications for the deep sea shipping lines and bulk carriers.
