Last year six of the top ten ports in the world by volume were in China; Shanghai, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Qingdao, Guangzhou and Ningbo. Volume through Chinese ports has been growing in double figures, but last year three of the top five ports only grew by single digits in 2008. Of these, Shenzhen had the lowest percentage increase, and is currently trying to improve growth by targetting domestic containers.
