The freight forwarding market grew by 8.0% in 2017, which is a rapid expansion compared with recent years. The forwarding market is using technology to transform their operations.

The growth in ‘tech forwarders’ – including digital forwarders and spot market platforms – has driven other freight forwarders to enhance their own use of technology, and the services which they offer to shippers.
Customer focus is vital, as larger freight forwarders aim to drive efficiency and establish new routes to market.

At 8.0%, the global freight forwarding market grew at the fastest annual rate since 2010. There was strong growth in both air and sea freight; forecasts show that sea freight is positioned to continue healthy growth over the short- to medium-term.
