Vietnam is expected to earn nearly 1.4 billion U.S. dollars from exports of fruits and vegetables in the first five months of this year.

Vietnam’s fruit and veg export turnover to China in the five-month period rose 36.8 percent, while those to the United Arab Emirates and Russia increased 2.1 times, and 76.3 percent, respectively.

China, the United States, Japan and South Korea are the four main export markets for Vietnam’s fruits and vegetables, accounting for 83.8 percent of the total export revenue.
China imports some 90 percent of Vietnamese lychee output annually.
It is estimated that Vietnam will spend 470 million U.S. dollars on imports of fruits and vegetables from January to May, up 68.6 percent on-year, said the ministry of Agriculture.
