Plans for an intermodal freight exchange on the old Radlett airfield in Hertfordshire have been put on hold while the developers decide whether to request a judicial review. The Secretarty of State has overturned the verdict of the previous hearing which gave the go-ahead for the Strategic Rail Freight Interchange on Green Belt land, stating ecological and amenity considerations. The hearing panel stated that there was another site more suited to this kind of development, but this may not be the final word on the question. Campaigners are hoping that the logistics hub will be sited at Colnbrook near Heathrow airport.
