The Chief Executive Officer of the Freight Transport Association has written to Transport Minister Philip Hammond to advise him of the logistics industry position on infrastructure development.  He points out that poor infrastructure leads to freight delays, which in turn hampers economic development and urges the government to consider new ways of financing road and rail developments.  He also describes three ways in which the logistics industry is already developing initiatives to improve economic and environmental performance: the Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme, NIght time deliveries and the FastTrack Service to make rail freight more accessible to new entrants to the the market.
