A joint venture in China is researching biofuel alternatives for the aviation fuels which are vital for both passenger and freight flights. Big business and academia are combining their skills to try to find a biofuel solution which could transform the transport industry of the future.  The Chinese Academy of Science’s Qingdao Institute of Bio Energy and Bioprocess Technology will expand its collaboration with other research institutions and aviation supply chain companies.  The vast majority of imports from China currently travel by sea freight, but hopefully this research could have spin-offs for shipping fuel.
