European airlines have benefitted least from the upsurge in air freight volumes in February, but nevertheless have experienced growth compared with the same month last year.  Major cargo growth averaging about 27% have centred on North America, Asia Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East.  IATA attributes the bulk of air freight expansion to re-stocking – this effect is expected to wear out in the second half of the year.  Slower growth is expected from that point as air freight will then be driven by consumer spending and world trade.
