Reports coming in from Chile say that ports near the epicentre of Saturday’s earthquake are not operational and are unable to handle imports and exports.  This means that aid organisations are having difficulties delivering much needed aid to the area.  Ports in the north are operating better than those in the south, which are also threatened by looting. Disruption to the major freight and logistics hubs is making distribution difficult and troops are being used to help control rioting.
