French haulage workers are once again demanding wage increases in a period of recession and record numbers of haulage companies going bankrupt.  Unions have asked the 500,000 workers in the road freight industry to strike for an undefined period beginning on 13 December.  It is thought that the main targets will be distribution hubs supplying temperature-controlled goods to supermarkets.  Employers’ representatives have offered a 3% pay rise, which was rejected.
