According to local reports, about 400,000 empty containers are piled up in the port of Yantian at Shenzen.  The Transport and Housing Bureau of Hong Kong is also searching for land to lease in order to store empty containers which are the casualty of declining cargo volumes.  The excess of containers is not causing any delays or difficulties at the moment, but measures need to be put in place to avoid congestion at major ports.
